SGS Societe Generale de Surveillance : Focus on Danube

At SGS, we're delighted that the 2016 harvest season for the Danube Region is about to start: the industry expects another busy - and interesting - export season.

Once again, the outlook suggests large crop yields - although late rains in some areas may create possible quality concerns and delays to the harvest. For example, strong storms in Serbia had stopped the progress of harvesting at the time of writing this article.

In addition, the districts that have noted the presence of fusarium will need to keep a close eye on quality and to monitor for toxins. SGS agronomists are presently scouting the production areas to gather information on the potential for yield, quality and diseases within the forthcoming crops. As soon as samples are available, our testing laboratories will be compiling data for input to our quality map and mycotoxin monitoring services.

Employing 500 people full-time, all with a focus on the agricultural commodity supply chain, the SGS region-wide network of offices, laboratories and inspection resources continues to lead the industry.
