Prime Minister Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha presided over the signing ceremony for the memorandum of cooperation for CONNEXT ED (Leadership Program for Sustainable Education), initiated under a civil-state effort designed to enhance basic education and create future leaders. Mr. Supachai Chearavanont, Vice Chairman of the Charoen Pokphand Group and President & Chief Executive Officer of True Corporation PCL, head of the private-sector team for the program, Mr. Arthid Nanthawithaya, CEO and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of Siam Commercial Bank, as well as top executives of the network of 12 private-sector organizations jointly signed the memorandum at Santi Matri Building, Government House. The project brings together Thailand's private-sector organizations to work together with the state sector and civil society to upgrade basic education and leadership development.

The CONNEXT ED Program marks a turning point for propelling Thailand's basic education systematically as top executives of the 12 corporate organizations will be serving as school sponsors providing funding and consulting to school partners selected from public-minded young professionals finishing leadership training. They will collaborate with educational administrators under the Civil State Project to support and plan sustainable education development for 3,342 schools nationwide in an initial phase by 2016 and 7,424 schools in every sub-district of the country in the following 3 years (by the end of 2019).
