'I'd like to thank Norbert Kleinjohann for his professional implementation of many far-reaching IT projects over the last ten years. Above all, he has clearly advanced the efficiency of our IT processes,' said Ralf P. Thomas, Siemens' Chief Financial Officer. 'With his many years of international experience in areas including the operating software business, Helmuth Ludwig is the ideal successor. His expertise will enable him to continue driving business-process efficiency and in-house digitalization at Siemens.'

In his new capacity, Helmuth Ludwig will, among other things, support the business units as they systematically implement Industrie 4.0 technologies - thus shortening time-to-market while enhancing flexibility, quality and efficiency. 'Time-to-market has now become a key competitive factor,' noted Ludwig. 'That's why we have to keep massively driving the digitalization of our products and processes. We've already achieved a high level of digitalization, which we'll still continue to build on. And IT will play a leading role here.'

Helmuth Ludwig completed a degree in engineering at the University of Karlsruhe before earning a doctorate at Kiel University. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago. Ludwig teaches International Corporate Strategy as an adjunct professor at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He has worked at Siemens for 26 years in various capacities in Germany and abroad, including serving as president of Siemens PLM Software and CEO of the Siemens Industry Sector in North America.
