Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, the leading renewable energy player in India, has achieved the milestone of connecting 5000MW to the Indian Grid, thus becoming the second largest OEM in India by cumulative installed capacity. The company began its Indian journey in 2009 and emerged as the largest player within 5 years and has also commissioned a record 2000 MW in the last financial year. The company has operations across 7 key wind states supported by a strong local service presence and has been the market leader for the past 3 years.

Globally merged as one in the beginning of 2017, Siemens Gamesa announced a new global Business Plan in mid-February 2018 to strengthen its leadership position in the global market, to better serve its customers and to respond to the market needs. This three-year global program, L3AD2020, is articulated around three strategic cornerstones:

  • Business model Agility, offering customers greater flexibility in terms of products and services, financial solutions and response times.
  • Best-in class LCoE (Levelized Cost of Energy), thanks to the technology platform, cost streamlining and operational excellence.
  • Digital intelligence, as a differentiating factor as against its competitors.

Also, a key element in this transformation plan is the Change Management program, focused on People and Culture.

Drawn from the global strategy, the Indian organisation will further strengthen its leadership position.

'It is encouraging to see our incremental growth in India over the years. India is a key market for us and will continue to be one for years to come. The global wind market dynamics are changing and so is the change occurring in India. Hence, it is imperative for us to respond to the market with more agility, better products and comprehensive digital intelligence which will set us to the path for strong profitable growth, and our L3AD2020 program will set us on track to global leadership', said Markus Tacke, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy CEO.

'At the outset, we would like to thank all our customers for being part of this 5 GW achievement. With a dynamic market scenario like ours, we will be introducing new technologies and products specifically designed for the Indian wind and market conditions, thus delivering more value for our customers', said Ramesh Kymal, Siemens Gamesa ONSHORE CEO for India.

This April 2018 marks the first year of the combined entity and Siemens Gamesa aspires to grow its market share, underpinned by its new product portfolio.
