As a part of its endeavor to provide the latest technologies for the Mining Industry and support the expansion of Coal production in the country, Siemens conducted a 'Technology Day' for the Engineers and Officials of M/s South Eastern Coalfields Ltd. (SECL) & M/s Central Mine Planning & Design Institute Ltd. (CMPDIL), at Bilaspur.

Coal India Limited (CIL) is a 'Maharatna' company and the Largest Coal producer in the world. M/s SECL (headquartered in Bilaspur-Chhattisgarh) is a fully-owned subsidiary of CIL and the largest Coal producing company in India. Both companies are planning to expand production of Coal to meet the increasing demand for energy in India, taking the expertise of M/s CMPDIL, the premier consultant in Open pit & Underground Mine Planning and Design in Coal, Lignite and other Minerals.

Technical Presentations were made highlighting the latest global solutions for Mining viz. Gearless Conveyors & Mill Drives, Variable Speed Conveyors, Automation for Mines & Advance Stockyard Management. Digitalization and Mining Automation can aid in boosting the production efficiency, enhanced resource management, upgrade safety processes, effective control on logistics and improving existing quality controls in coal mines.

'Siemens is proud and honored to be associated with CIL which spearheads the Coal production in the country. With our wide range of solutions for Mining that support Energy savings initiatives and enhancing the productivity of our Customers, we are in a unique position to support the Mining Industry in its efforts to ramp up the Coal production in the country in the coming years' said Ashish Sareen, Head of Process Solutions, Process Industries & Drives, Siemens Limited.

Digitalization technologies like Conveyor Simulation & Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) have the potential to unlock new ways of managing variability and enhancing productivity in the Mining Industry. The latest technologies pave way for a fundamental shift in the way Mining operations are implemented. The shift is marked by harnessing the flow of information to reduce variability in decision making and by deploying more centralized processes. More importantly, when designed and implemented correctly, Digitalization can improve health, safety and environmental impact - saving lives, reducing injuries, lowering emissions and waste, and increasing transparency and sustainability.
