FREMONT, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 16, 2015) - Sigma Designs® (NASDAQ: SIGM), a leading provider of intelligent system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for SmartTV, Internet of Things Devices for Smart home, IP-based set-top-boxes and Media Connectivity, today announced Mr. Bo Liu has joined Sigma as its new General Manager of APAC and Vice President of Applications Engineering. Mr. Liu will be responsible for directing all of Sigma's applications engineering and customer support operations for the APAC region, and will report to Mr. Thinh Tran, President and CEO of Sigma Designs, Inc.

Mr. Liu has over 20 years of experience as an engineering executive in various capacities with a primary focus on software and applications. Most recently, Mr. Liu served as the Vice President of Engineering for ICUBE, managing the company's entire engineering team including ASIC design, software development, and applications engineering. Prior to this, Mr. Liu served as the Vice President of Software or Applications at a number of leading companies including C2 Microsystems, Magnum Semiconductor, Mediatek, and TVIA. During his career, Mr. Liu has managed global multi-national organizations with over 300 engineers and supported tier 1 customers including Samsung, LG, Sony, and Panasonic. Mr. Liu holds a BSEE from Hefei University in China, an MSEE degree from Wichita State in Kansas, and is a PhD candidate at the University of Wisconsin.

In addition, Sigma today announced that Mustafa Ozgen, formerly Vice President and General Manager of Sigma's Home Multimedia Business Unit, has resigned his position to become the new Chief Executive Officer of QD Vision, Inc.
