FREMONT, CA-(Marketwired - Aug 19, 2015) - The Z-Wave Alliance, an open consortium of leading global companies deploying Z-Wave, is announcing the summer winner of its IoT developer competition. Embue, a Boston-based start-up focused on empowering multifamily property managers to tackle energy and operational waste is the next winner of the Alliance's Z-Wave Labs program. The team at Embue will receive Z-Wave Alliance membership and access to the new Z-Wave IoT ready 500 series development kits. Z-Wave Labs is a brand new competition to support and incentivize IoT innovation on the Z-Wave® platform.

Launched in 2014, Embue's solution goes beyond the thermostat to connect a building's energy infrastructure and deliver real visibility and intelligence through predictive maintenance. Embue enables multifamily property managers focused on lowering expenses and creating efficiencies to allow buildings to do the talking, walking and problem solving for them. Embue's cloud delivered predictive building management platform and its smart device app provide both building managers and tenants environment control and knowledge about their units in ways previously unimagined.

"The growing field of energy management and smart thermostats in both commercial and residential markets is incredibly exciting," said Raoul Wijgergangs, interim chairman of the Z-Wave Alliance. "Embue's desire to use the Z-Wave platform to deliver a connected, smart energy solution for customers is a perfect example of the type of innovation we're looking for with our Z-Wave Labs program."

"We want to create a truly connected energy system for our customers to give them not only control over their environment but also the opportunity to have that environment manage itself," said Robert Cooper, President and CEO of Embue. "In order for these services to be the super achievers behind smart apartments, Embue needs a robust network infrastructure. By adding Z-Wave to our connected capabilities, we will extend that network and the selection of devices that work with our ecosystem."

Z-Wave Labs is a global competition that launched in May 2015 and is designed to encourage IoT innovation on the Z-Wave platform.
