The MHL standard defines an optimized-for-mobile audio/video wired
interface for portable devices to connect to HDTVs and other
displays. One of the key advantages of the MHL specification is that
it utilizes some of the most popular mobile and CE connections out
on the market today. The first MHL-enabled products are expected to
be released in the first half of 2011.
The MHL Consortium will be showcasing its technology at Mobile World
Congress in Barcelona in Hall 2, B108. The demo will highlight the
following capabilities:
-- Mobile Device Charging by HDTV: MHL technology provides power
from MHL-enabled televisions to operate the mobile device and
charge its battery, while simultaneously playing content.
-- HD Video and Audio: 1080p high-definition video and 7.1 digital
audio is supported for the ultimate mobile viewing and listening
experience.
-- Command and Control: Consumers can use remotes from any
MHL-enabled HDTV to control any MHL-enabled mobile device.
-- Thin Cables: Inexpensive, portable, five conductor cables are
used for the delivery of high-definition video and digital audio.
