Silver Spring Networks, Inc. (NYSE: SSNI) today announced that it has been selected by Pacific Power to provide the platform and solutions for an advanced metering infrastructure for approximately 600,000 homes and businesses across 180 communities in Oregon.

Silver Spring will deploy its multi-application Gen5 IPv6 platform to provide two-way communication capabilities for advanced metering that can help Pacific Power better serve its customers, improve grid maintenance and reliability, and offer operational efficiencies.

"Our smart meter investment is another key step towards the energy grid of the future here in Oregon," said Stefan Bird, president and CEO of Pacific Power. "By partnering with Silver Spring Networks, we will be able to offer our customers real benefits, while generating savings that exceed the costs over the life of the meters.”
