Singapore, 13 February 2018 - Over 250 dedications sent by readers will be featured in the Valentine's Day Special in The New Paper and Lianhe Zaobao on 14 February.
This includes a dedication from a loyal reader, Mr Sim Teng Yam, to his wife of 46 years. In his message, he thanked his wife for her loyalty and unwavering support. The couple have three grandchildren and are looking forward to their fourth one in July.
Another reader, Mr Edmund Ng, pledged his love to his wife and his two children along with an endearing love message.
This Valentine's Day Special has been organised annually for over 20 years, and was first known as Valentine's Lovelines. Every year, readers would make their paid Valentine's Day dedications through the Classifieds hotline of Singapore Press Holdings.
Such declarations of love in print despite the proliferation of online media platforms reinforce the notion that newspapers convey a sense of permanency. They highlight how print media is still widely perceived to be an ideal platform for public announcements.
Besides getting their declarations in print, one lucky winner will also receive a 2-night Kuala Lumpur Cruise package for two in a Balcony Cabin on board Genting Dream, worth $1,118. In order to qualify for the lucky draw this year, readers had to place their ads by 12 February. The prize is sponsored by Dream Cruises.
