Singapore, 17 January 2018 - Orange Valley Nursing Homes Pte Ltd (OV) has opened its sixth nursing home at Balestier on 2 January 2018.

Located at 363 Balestier Road, the five-storey Orange Valley Care Centre (OVCC) offers 116 beds with two beds for quarantine and isolation purposes. Besides open wards, there are two deluxe suites consisting of an inpatient room with dedicated family space and rest area. There are also single, 2-bedded and 4-bedded rooms to suit various budgets and meet the needs of the residents and their caregivers.

Unlike the other OV nursing homes, OVCC provides residents with rehabilitation services for both in-patient and out-patient cases. Its team of nursing staff and therapists is trained to manage common conditions after hospital-stay and post-surgery (Please see attached factsheet). These conditions often require longer periods of convalescence for good recovery and better function.

The Care team will work with referring doctors, families, caregivers and community partners to provide customised care for its residents.

It also offers short-term stay, respite, as well as step down care options during the period when the caregiver or family members are not available or when round-the-clock supervision and medical care are required. The suite of resident care services include fall prevention and management, pain and wound management and advanced care planning, among others.

OVCC also houses OV's centralised in-house pharmacy which distributes medication to all OV nursing homes. The pharmacy was previously situated at the nursing home in Clementi.

Other amenities at OVCC include a dedicated physiotherapy room and multi-purpose hall at Level 2 and lounges at Levels 3, 4 and 5 to facilitate interaction between residents and family members.

OVCC is designed with the safety and convenience of its residents and the general public in mind. It is equipped with elderly-friendly features and amenities such as broad corridors, lifts, ramps and signages in large fonts and braille for the visually-impaired.

All indoor common area lightings in OVCC are energy-efficient LED models. There are also measures in place to conserve water usage such as dual-flush systems for toilets.

In November 2017, OV attained the Singapore Quality Class with People (People Developer) and Service (Singapore Service Class) standards for Business Excellence. This certification validates OV's commitment and achievement of sustainable business performance and robust management systems and processes.

With the addition of OVCC at Balestier, this brings the number of beds in OV's six nursing homes to more than 1000 beds, making it Singapore's leading privately-owned nursing home provider. OV also provides ancillary services like meal and catering services, physiotherapy and rehabilitation services, and supplying medical, nursing and healthcare equipment and consumables.

Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) acquired OV in April 2017 as part of the media and property group's foray into the aged care business.

Ms Lyn Edel Yip, Deputy CEO, Orange Valley Nursing Homes Pte Ltd, said: 'The Orange Valley Care Centre at Balestier being located in the central region is well-positioned to work closely with the neighbouring healthcare providers such as restructured & private hospitals as well as general practitioners to provide seamless quality care for patients with diverse medical needs and conditions.'
