SINGAPORE, 27 July 2017 - The Straits Times and Objectifs, a visual arts centre, will present a month-long photo exhibition showcasing more than 90 works from Home in Focus, a long-running weekly visual story feature in the newspaper.

The two-page spread which runs every Monday has published more than 90 photo essays since it started in The Straits Times in July 2015, capturing the quirky, compassionate and ever-changing in Singapore. Many of these images and videos, ranging from a behind-the-scenes stint with the Black Knights, the Singapore Armed Forces aerobatics team, to intimate communities such as the Karen Baptist Church, were curated from 45 of them.

The exhibition, which marks the first collaboration between both organisations, will be held at Objectifs Centre in Middle Road, from August 3 to September 3. Admission is free.

Ms Stephanie Yeow, The Straits Times' Picture Editor, said: 'We're absolutely thrilled to collaborate with Objectifs for this exhibition which celebrates our community and the people who belong to it. We've always believed that a single powerful image can bridge societal gaps and evoke a response, be it a positive or negative one. We hope that the images you see in this selection will effect an emotion in you, leaving you with a better idea of the type of people, activities and places that surround you.'

Ms Emmeline Yong, Centre Director for Objectifs, said: 'Through this exhibition, we want to acknowledge the important role that photojournalism plays in bringing meaningful stories to our attention. These images are wonderful anecdotes about Singapore and a testament to the talents of photojournalists whose works add depth and colour to the pages of the newspaper.'

Visitors to the exhibition can also purchase a special print selection of photographs on display at the exhibition. Net proceeds from the sale will be donated to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. Details of the print sale will be announced at a later stage.

There will also be two talks by The Straits Times photojournalists on Aug 16 and 30.
