Singapore, 10 September 2014 - ST Aerospace's commercial pilot training arm, ST Aerospace Academy (STAA) presents today, graduation certificates to nine Tigerair cadet pilots for the Multi-crew Pilot Licence (MPL) programme.

Upon graduation, this second batch of MPL cadet pilots from Tigerair will become Junior First Officers and join the six First Officers from the beta programme currently flying Airbus A320 aircraft on the airline's revenue flights.  Between 2012 and 2014, these Tigerair cadets attended ground school and flight training courses both in Singapore and Ballarat,Australia. The MPL curriculum also engaged them in a multi-crew cooperation environment from the start of the course. This was done through the use of two Airbus A320 flight simulators housed at the newly-inaugurated ST Aerospace Aviation Centre in Singapore.

"The partnership with STAA first started in 2009, where we collaborated with CAAS to develop the MPL beta programme in Singapore. The strong support we received as well as the high quality of the cadet pilots, who are fully capable and competent in handling modern airline operations safely and efficiently, led us to further extend the MPL programme to other cadets. We're very pleased to have this new cohort of MPL cadet pilots onboard, and we are certain they will be stellar additions to Tigerair."  ~ Captain Eugene ANTONI, Director of Flight Operations, Tigerair.

"We are greatly honoured by the testimony of trust from Tigerair, with whom we have established a robust working relationship over the years. Commercial pilot training is a highly specialised arena. At STAA, we pride ourselves to be a one-stop pilot training solutions provider, offering complete turnkey solutions to all customer airlines. The MPL structure which we have founded in Singapore is a world class programme - not only is it well adapted for today's aviation industry, it is also sustainable in the long run."  ~ Kevin KHOO, President, ST Aerospace Academy.

Established in 2007, STAA is Singapore's first CAAS-approved third party flight training organisation as well as the pioneer academy to offer MPL training in the country. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities in Singapore,Australia and the US, STAA is staffed with over 70 employees globally, including a team of highly qualified ground and flight instructors.

Today, STAA has graduated more than 300 cadets with over 200 currently undergoing training. The academy has plans to train about 600 commercial pilots over the next decade.
