Revolutionary Dash mobile money service wins gold at the SiTF Awards 2014

SINGAPORE, 13 October 2014 - SingTel and Standard Chartered's latest collaboration, Dash, won the Gold award in the Best Consumer Product category at the 2014 SiTF Awards.

With distinguished individuals such as luminaries from the info-comms media industry, venture capitalists, investors and academia presiding over the competition as judges, the Dash team beat other strong local companies to bag the top prize.

The mobile money service app is a first such solution of its kind in Singapore. It enables customers to download cash from a savings account directly into their mobile phones to make secure payments to friends and businesses.

A delighted Ms Gan Siok Hoon, Vice President of mCommerce, Group Digital L!fe, SingTel, said:

"Dash was inspired from a simple idea to download cash into mobile phones as reassuringly as handling physical money. With our unique, patent-pending technology, customers can instantly transfer money with a swipe when they need to pay someone.  Customers can also use it to make payment at retail outlets and in taxis, without the usual administrative fees.

By bringing together players in the banking, telecommunications and retail sectors, we are able to deliver a convenient, user-friendly and accessible experience to consumers."

Mr V Subba, Head of Retail Products, Singapore and ASEAN, Standard Chartered Bank, said:

"We are delighted that Dash has won this prestigious award at the 2014 SiTF Awards.

Dash is a new mobile money service that integrates mobile banking, mobile payments and mobile shopping, created to increase usability as device sophistication and network speed are on the rise.

Singapore has the infrastructure to become cashless and over time, we believe that more consumers will become comfortable with mobile payments, taking it mainstream."

The SiTF Awards is organised by the Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF) to provide recognition to innovative infocomm applications and solutions that are developed in Singapore.

Besides the convenience of instant transfers, customers can also make secure payments at more than 20,000 acceptance points island-wide, including retail outlets, convenience stores, food courts and taxis. These include major brands such as 7-Eleven, ComfortDelGro Taxi, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Watsons.

For a limited time, customers will receive a complimentary S$5 welcome bonus, ready to be used, upon the successful sign up and opening of the Dash mobile cash account.
