• New facility to meet growing demand for co-location and cloud services
  • High power density cater to customers' future growth
  • Managed ICT and cyber security capabilities under one roof

Singapore, 8 October 2015 - Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) is making its biggest data centre investment in Singapore to date with a new S$400 million, Tier 3-Plus data centre in Jurong to meet growing demand for co-location and cloud services in Singapore.

'This new data centre is designed to meet the critical hosting needs of the financial services industry, government agencies, and cloud and Internet service providers,' said Mr Bill Chang, Chief Executive Officer, Group Enterprise. 'It enables Singtel to attract and host world-class cloud players in Singapore and position the country as a global hub for cloud computing and innovation.'

With an approximate gross floor area of 570,000 square feet, the network-ready data centre features secure, high-grade private and co-location data hosting capabilities. To be completed in the third quarter of 2016, it can host an array of new technologies from cloud solutions, smart applications to different platforms for analytics.

This new facility brings Singtel's network of data centres in Asia Pacific to 13 - nine in Singapore and two each in Hong Kong and Australia. Bill Chang, Chief Executive Officer, Group Enterprise, adds again, 'This enlarged footprint enables businesses to use Singtel's regional hosting capabilities to grow and connect their operations within Singapore and the region, seamlessly.'

High power capabilities and green features

The facility is equipped with a total power capacity of up to 36 megawatts, which is one of the highest power densities in the region. This high power density enables customers to deploy and scale virtualisation and blade servers more efficiently, according to future needs.

Incorporating the Building and Construction Authority Green Mark Platinum standard for green efficiency and environmental impact, the new facility comprises an integrated climate control system and a critical cooling system using recycled NEWater, running on energy-efficient equipment.

To optimise and manage energy consumption and costs, customers can use the centre's Infrastructure Management tools.

Security capabilities

With cyber threats on the increase, users can leverage Singtel's cyber security capabilities to secure their cloud infrastructure, data and networks hosted at the centre.

The centre is also designed to meet the Monetary Authority of Singapore's Technology Risk Management guidelines that address existing and emerging risks which confront financial institutions.

Managed ICT services under one roof

The centre's capability, combined with Singtel's suite of managed network, hybrid cloud and professional services can meet customers' ICT needs under one roof.

In addition, customers can enjoy Singtel's award-winning Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network and public Internet connectivity services. They can also use Singtel's quick turn-on, pay-as-you-use Software-Defined networking solution, which puts the management of networks in their hands.
