Singapore, 4 July, 2016 - Singtel will give every full-time staff two days of leave each year to attend SkillsFuture courses. This is in support of the government's SkillsFuture initiative designed to spur Singapore's economic growth by nurturing a competitive workforce through skills mastery and lifelong learning.

'At Singtel, we operate in a dynamic industry that is constantly changing. More than ever, we believe in the importance of equipping our staff with the necessary skills and capabilities to support our digital ventures and the government's efforts to transform Singapore into a Smart Nation,' said Ms Aileen Tan, Singtel's Group Chief Human Resources Officer.

She added, 'As an organisation committed to lifelong learning, we want our staff to excel and reach their full potential with us. This is why we invest heavily and make every effort to support their training and development needs. By giving our staff two days of leave to pursue new skills, we hope to encourage them to manage their professional development more proactively.'

To help employees familiarise themselves with SkillsFuture courses and credits, Singtel has organised roadshows, where employees could attend talks and link up with educational providers to register for courses.

Singtel will also organise a week-long annual Singtel Learning Fiesta, where staff will get to hear from well-known keynote speakers, as well as participate in over 120 mini workshops and lectures. These short courses cover a variety of leadership, technical, personal development and lifestyle topics.

The extra days of leave is yet another initiative that demonstrates Singtel's commitment in support of SkillsFuture. Last year, it introduced the Singtel Cadet Scholarship Programme to nurture young talent in the areas of Engineering, Cyber Security and Customer Experience. Targeted at local polytechnics, the programme prepares students with industry-relevant training that would widen their career prospects.

Over 10,000 staff across Singtel and NCS are expected to benefit from the additional leave.
