Beginning in August 2016, US dental practitioners will have the opportunity to expand their dental handpiece selection. The new offerings of high-speed air-driven handpieces and electric attachments will be distributed by the Dentsply Sirona brand Midwest and manufactured at the largest manufacturing site of dentistry, at Dentsply Sirona in Bensheim, Germany. The merger between DENTSPLY and Sirona in February 2016 allows this collaboration as well as a series of others.

As of mid-August, the Dentsply Sirona brand Midwest will launch a high-speed air-driven handpiece under the brand of 'Midwest Stylus Plus' and electric attachments under the brand 'Midwest E Plus'.

York/Salzburg. The Dentsply Sirona merger was completed with a vision to deliver innovative dental solutions to improve oral health worldwide. Being able to deliver quality handpiece instruments 'Made in Germany' into the US dental market through the Midwest brand and the company's US distribution partners is one of the ways that Dentsply Sirona will empower dental professionals to deliver better, safer, faster dental care. As of mid-August, the Dentsply Sirona brand Midwest will launch a high-speed air-driven handpiece under the brand of 'Midwest Stylus Plus' and electric attachments under the brand 'Midwest E Plus'.

By distributing former Sirona handpieces in the US, Midwest expands its offering with additional electric handpieces, which are a fast-growing category in the US and a new high-speed air-driven handpiece to supplement its existing line that includes the popular brands Tradition®, Tradition Plus®, and Stylus®. The new products offer high quality materials and workmanship with robust ceramic bearings, lightweight and ergonomic designs, and universal interfaces that allow use on the most popular dental units.

Remarkable experience in instruments

Dentsply Sirona has over a century of experience. In the late 19th century former Sirona built the first electric-powered dental drill. Midwest was founded in 1927 with many revolutionary handpiece innovations. Two great businesses with great histories.
'We are proud to be part of Dentsply Sirona which gives us the opportunity to widen our portfolio of high-end products', says Dave Hancin, Vice President and General Manager of Midwest. 'We are convinced that the combined know-how of DENTSPLY and Sirona will provide even better services for our customers. We look forward to leveraging the strengths of our manufacturing teams.'

Jan Siefert, Group Vice President of Dentsply Sirona Instruments, sees a great benefit for the US market from the expansion of the handpiece category: 'Dentsply Sirona's goal is to offer dentists the broadest possible portfolio of high quality dental products. Dentists will benefit from the experiences and capabilities of our two great companies coming together.'
