SJVN SPONSORS A TRAINING PROGRAM FOR PROJECT AFFECTED YOUTH

SJVN has sponsored a training program for a batch of 18 Local youth including 5 female candidates hailing from the vicinity of SJVN's projects in the states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand on "General Work Supervisors" course at Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC), Faridabad. During the currency of the fully residential training program, candidates are provided stipend of Rs. 1,500 per month.

The job of General Work Supervisors has become a pre requisite for big construction projects and offers ample employment opportunity to the youth. To cater to the employability needs of the construction industry, SJVN has sponsored this training program under its "Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability Policy".  Vocational training programmes being sponsored by SJVN enable important transitions for the local people in terms of employability - from agriculture to non-agriculture, from rural to urban areas, from unorganized to organized sectors, from school to work and subsistence employment to fair wages employment. SJVN has already sponsored more than 230 local youth to various job oriented courses in CIDC.

Sh. S.P. Bansal, Deputy General Manager of SJVN, as Chief Guest  inaugurated the training program. Others present on the occasion were Sh. Dhiraj Gupta, Sr. Officer from Corporate CSR Section and Dr. B.K. Pandey, Sr. Manager  (P&A) from SJVN. From CIDC, Dr. (Ms.) Suchita Kumar, Sh. Praveen Tiwari, Dy. G.M. and Sh. S.K. Singh Senior Manager were present on the occasion.

It is worthwhile to mention that SJVN is contributing significantly under CSR and sustainability and has already spent more than Rs. 140 Cr. under Corporate Social Responsibility.
