Skanska Safety Week has been arranged annually for eight years. The theme for Safety Week 2012 is: "Our journey to zero accidents is only possible with you and me taking responsibility".

All around Skanska group there are teams that achieve zero accidents every day, week after week, month after month, year on year. They do this not just by following the rules but by working together and caring about the safety of those they work with. They take responsibility for their own actions but also by looking out for each other.

Skanska has a strong focus on reducing the number of workplace related accidents. The goal is to eliminate 3 out of 4 lost time accidents by 2015. It is a demanding task but over the last 6 years the lost time accident rate for employees has been reduced by 50 percent worldwide.
