Sky took over Twickenham Stadium on Friday 9 June to celebrate the Sky Sports Living for Sport initiative, which in the past 14 years, has seen 500,000 young people take part.

Sky Living for Sport has taught students the six top life-skills that have enabled athletes to achieve success. Over 135 world-class athlete mentors have visited schools to support teachers in delivering hundreds of unique projects designed to develop the self-confidence, health and wellbeing of secondary school students.

Sky Sports pundit and world champion boxer, Johnny Nelson introduced a full day of activities and celebrations alongside twenty Sky Sports Living for Sport athlete mentors, including Commonwealth gymnast gold medalists, Craig Heap and Steve Frew and inline skater, Jenna Downing.

100 students were put through their paces by the athlete mentors before putting their skills to the test in a rugby match on the famous pitch under the captaincy of former South Africa international player Thinus Delport, and World Cup winner Heather Fisher.

The winners of the 11 different Awards this year were named, including three special Awards recognising students, teachers and Athlete Mentors who have gone above and beyond to inspire others during the past 14 years of Sky Sports Living for Sport.

Led by Maggie Alphonsi, English Rugby world cup winner, and supported by a host of athlete mentors, the awards were presented from the Royal Box

The Awards and Winners were as follows:

  • Project of the Year - Argoed Schoo
  • Teacher of the Year - David Butterworth, Redwood Secondary Schoo
  • Student of the Year for Northern Ireland - Oisin McGurk, St Mary's Grammar School
  • Student of the Year for Republic of Ireland - Mícheál Bollard, Colaiste Cois Lif
  • Student of the Year for Wales - Cerys Davies, Ysgol David Hughe
  • Student of the Year for Scotland - Kacey Duffey, St Andrews Roman Catholic High Schoo
  • Student of the Year for England and our overall winner for UK and Ireland - Daniel Tedcastle, Glebe School
  • Outstanding Contribution by an Athlete Mentor - Rachael Mackenzie, a Thai Boxe
  • Outstanding Contribution by a Teacher - Anthony Creaser, Samuel Cody Specialist Sports College
  • Student Inspirational Journey - Wayne Instrell, Bedford Academy
