Sky : named as one of top 10 Green Companies in the World

Sky has been named one of the Top 10 Green Companies in the World in Newsweek's Green Rankings 2016. The award is one of the world's most recognised measures of a business's environmental performance, acknowledging Skys' commitment to reducing its environmental impact and helping to tackle climate change.

Fiona Ball, Head of Responsible Business at Sky said: 'This is an exciting year for us at Sky, as we celebrate 10 years of being carbon neutral and continue to make great progress against one of our key targets to halve our gross emissions relative to revenue by 2020, against a 2008 baseline. We've also recently signed up to RE100 and We Mean Business, and as part of the commitments we'll be working to go 100% renewable, right across our business, something we have achieved in the UK and Ireland for many years.

'There is so much going on right across our business to make sure we are as energy efficient as possible and playing our part to help tackle climate change - from the teams that have designed and built our new buildings to high environmental standards (BREEAM Excellent) and packed full of renewable energy sources, to the work we do with our suppliers to help them measure and drive down their own energy use - this ranking is great recognition for everyone that works hard on a day-to-day basis to make great things happen - we're delighted!'

The ranking is based on research from Corporate Knights and HIP (Human Impact + Profit) Investor Inc., and the results are based on the environmental performance of the world's 500 largest publicly-traded companies by market capitalisation.
