ST. GEORGE, UT, PRNewswire/ - SkyWest, Inc., (NASDAQ: SKYW) ('SkyWest') today reported 168,060 block hours in June 2016, compared to 176,695 block hours in June 2015, a decrease of 8,635 or 4.9%. The net decrease was consistent with SkyWest's fleet transition plan to improve the mix of aircraft in its fleet by adding new dual class aircraft to its fleet, while reducing its single class aircraft.

The year-over-year net change was primarily driven by approximately 6,500 additional block hours from its dual class aircraft (E175s, CRJ900s and CRJ700s) and a decrease of approximately 15,100 block hours from fewer single class aircraft (CRJ200s, ERJ135s/145s and EMB120s).

In June 2016, SkyWest's dual class aircraft represented approximately 43% of SkyWest's total block hour production for the month compared to approximately 37% for the month of June 2015.

SkyWest reported 980,209 block hours for year-to-date June 2016, compared to 1,048,147 block hours year-to-date June 2015, a decrease of 67,938, or 6.5%. This net change was primarily driven by approximately 41,400 additional block hours from its dual class aircraft and a decrease of approximately 109,300 block hours from fewer single class aircraft.

SkyWest had 101,230 departures in June 2016 compared to 104,441 in June 2015, a decrease of 3,211, or 3.1%. SkyWest generated 2.95 billion available seat miles (ASMs) for June 2016, compared to 3.06 billion ASMs for June 2015, or a 3.4% decrease. Additional flight statistics for June, including passengers enplaned, revenue passenger miles, and passenger load factors, are included in the accompanying table.
