Sallie Mae, the nation’s leading saving, planning, and paying for college company, today announced that Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Raymond J. Quinlan will serve as closing keynote speaker at CTO Forum’s RETHINK Strategy: Strategic Leadership of Technology and Innovation event at Harvard Business School today at 1 p.m.

RETHINK Strategy is an executive education program offered by CTO Forum and Harvard Business School. Sessions are led by Harvard Business School faculty and Fortune 500 company leaders. The program aims at identifying, examining, and overcoming the challenges that senior technology and business executives face in fostering a culture of smart innovation, corporate renewal, and systemic growth in well-established organizations.

Mr. Quinlan joins other corporate leaders on this year’s program, including the president of Walgreen Co., the president and CEO of AES Corporation, and the chairmen and CEOs of PSEG, Leidos, and St. Jude Medical. He will discuss the various changes and enhancements to Sallie Mae’s technology and infrastructure since the company’s spin off to a stand-alone consumer banking business last year.

Mr. Quinlan joined Sallie Mae as chairman and chief executive officer in 2014. Prior to joining Sallie Mae he served as executive vice president, banking, at CIT. He has been a bank industry executive for more than 30 years, including as chairman and CEO of the Citicorp Retail Financial Services businesses that include Citibank, CitiFinancial, and Primerica Financial Services. While at Citicorp, Mr. Quinlan launched Citibank Direct, a full service Internet bank. He also previously served as executive chairman of Coastal States Bank.

Mr. Quinlan has been licensed as a certified public accountant with a Ph.D. in economics from City University of New York, as well as MBAs from both Columbia University and New York University.
