Sallie Mae, the nation’s saving, planning, and paying for college company, has rolled out new features to its award-winning mobile app for iPhone and Android, making it even easier and more convenient for customers to view accounts and make payments. Sallie Mae’s mobile app offers anywhere, anytime access to account details like current balance, total amount due, interest rate, and payment history, as well as the ability to make loan payments. Launched last fall, the app uses simplified screens that lead customers seamlessly through the process in a matter of seconds.

Sallie Mae mobile app users will also now have the option to add notifications that alert customers before their student loan payment is due, when a payment has posted, or if a payment is past due. Another enhancement for Android users is the ability to log in securely with a fingerprint instead of a password, a feature already available to iOS users with Touch ID.

“We’re committed to enhancing our overall customer experience and that means understanding how and where our customers want to interact with us, which is increasingly online and on the go,” said Dan Kennedy, senior vice president and chief information officer, Sallie Mae. “With the recently redesigned SallieMae.com and our reach into mobile and wearables, we are meeting our customers in new ways and, thus far, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. We will continue to explore innovative and best-in-class ways to help students and families navigate their college journey.”

Sallie Mae’s mobile app and Apple Watch app recently earned Gold Awards in the 2017 AVA Digital Awards, an international competition that recognizes excellence in digital communication. Additionally, Sallie Mae received the Best Bank Mobile App award from the Internet Advertising Competition, which also named the new SallieMae.com as Best Bank Website.
