SLM Solutions Group AG: Construction of new Group headquarters in Lübeck-Genin progresses to plan

• Com­ple­tion ex­pected at the be­gin­ning of 2018, with move-in planned for Q1 2018

Lübeck, 14 June 2017 - The con­struc­tion of the new head­quar­ters of SLM So­lu­tions Group AG ('SLM So­lu­tions'), a lead­ing provider of metal-based ad­di­tive man­u­fac­tur­ing tech­nol­ogy, is pro­gress­ing to plan dur­ing the first months of 2017. Once the roof cov­er­ings at the new site in Lübeck-Genin are fin­ished dur­ing the next weeks, con­struc­tion of the in­te­rior will start. The new Group head­quar­ters is ex­pected to be fin­ished at the be­gin­ning of 2018, with the com­pany plan­ning to move into the build­ing dur­ing the first quar­ter of 2018.

The new lo­ca­tion will pro­vide space for around 500 em­ploy­ees. On a one-shift op­er­a­tion basis, SLM So­lu­tions plans pro­duc­tion ca­pac­ity of around 500 ma­chines per year at the new premises. The build­ing that is cur­rently being con­structed will oc­cupy around 17,000 m² of the total land area of 70,000 m². This will make it pos­si­ble to con­struct ex­ten­sion build­ings di­rectly at the new site in the fu­ture.

Uwe Böger­shausen, CFO of SLM So­lu­tions Group AG, ex­plains: 'We made sure when plan­ning our new head­quar­ters that the ground plans ex­actly meet the needs of our pro­duc­tion processes. Our aim was to keep con­nect­ing routes as short as pos­si­ble, and al­ready fur­ther im­prove the pos­si­bil­i­ties for co­or­di­na­tion be­tween de­part­ments through the new premises' de­sign. We be­lieve we can sig­nif­i­cantly fur­ther op­ti­mise our man­u­fac­tur­ing process in this way and raise our pro­duc­tiv­ity. We will also have more space for our re­search and de­vel­op­ment ac­tiv­i­ties at the new site than is cur­rently pos­si­ble. With our new Group head­quar­ters we will be very well po­si­tioned for fur­ther growth.'
