Darmstadt, Germany, 7/18/2014

Citing Software AG as a company with a "…vision (that) puts real-time customer experience first", Forrester highlighted several features that landed Software AG's in the Streaming Analytics Leader category, including:

  • Stream Processing - "Software AG IBO provides comprehensive streaming operators. Filtering, aggregation, location-based, time windows, temporal patterns, query enrichment, action interfaces, and dynamic operators."
  • Visualization tools - "Software AG IBO provides a rich Web-based UI framework that enables the building of direct client UIs and the binding (mashup) of separate data sources that can be merged, analyzed and then mapped to a flexible set of real-time visualization."
  • Data sources - "Software AG IBO supports more than 100 input/output protocol and industry data adapters. Software AG provides a developer toolkit to build customer adapters."

Dr. Wolfram Jost, Chief Technology Officer and member of the Executive Board at Software AG, said: "I believe that this report echoes the feedback we receive from our customers, who acknowledge the tremendous competitive value they gain when using Software AG's Intelligent Business Operations (IBO) solutions. Streaming Analytics is at the core of our IBO offering and is the basis upon which companies can manage fast 'Big Data' and the increasing impact of the 'Internet of Things'."

Streaming Analytics is fundamental to enterprises deriving maximum knowledge, value, and competitive advantage from the rapidly growing Internet of Things (IoT). It is estimated that the IoT will add nearly two trillion dollars in economic value by 2020 through opening new and diverse markets and channels. Enterprises that need to implement innovative and flexible business models that can rapidly address new markets must first be able to identify market movements and changing requirements in real-time. Streaming analytics provides this capability.

To address this, Software AG's Apama and Terracotta products are built on an in-memory architecture that enables real-time processing of extremely fast, large data volumes -- orders of magnitude larger than traditional database based IT architectures. Uniquely, they can combine in-memory, historical process discovery and performance monitoring data with real-time business operational data streams. Continuous analytics on streaming data can be performed to identify business patterns, which have happened or are about to happen. Visualizations and visual analytics for business users support both human-oriented and automated intelligent actions.

David Walker, IT Strategist and Architect at DBS Bank, one of the largest and most prominent institutions in Asia and a Software AG customer, noted:

"Over the last three years our bank has been leveraging the power of streaming analytics in multiple areas including real-time fraud detection and location-based marketing and cross-sell. With our real-time fraud detection system, we provide our customers with unparalleled protection in the region; while our right-time location-based marketing and cross-sell solutions offer our customers pin point advice and offers to suit their needs. The Software AG streaming analytics solution delivers tremendous value rightly recognised in the market".

Apama is deployed in numerous organizations worldwide: for example in financial services with banks such as in Australia and New Zealand Bank, the Royal Bank of Canada and Unicredit, in manufacturing with Manuvis, logistics with Royal Dirkzwager and in telecommunications with Turkcell.
