/ US$6.7 million (Est. HK$40 million / US$5 million) today. Multi-national collectors from America, Europe and
Asia pursued works in this category, which also attracted numerous buyers new to Sotheby's.

'Qilian' Limestone 'Bridge' Scholar's Rock, the top lot of today's sale which fetched HK$3.64 million / US$467,000, together with high prices for paintings led by works of contemporary ink masters Liu Dan, Li Huayi, Xu Lei, and Zeng Xiaojun. From paintings of grotesque rocks to ancient Buddhist sculptures and strange roots, these abstract works of nature continue to inspire artists in China today."
