15 April 2014 - Sotheby's 1 & 2 May Prints auction will include a stunning group of six C.R.W. Nevinson drypoints from his iconic New York series of the early 1920s, formerly from the estate of Catherine Gamble Curran. Leading the group and appearing at auction for the first time ever is Nevinson's New York - An Abstraction (est. $30/50,000, top of page 1). The sale also includes an experimental proof of Claes
Oldenburg's Profile Airflow (Axsom & Platzker 59) from The Museum of Modern Art (est. $80/120,000, bottom of page 1). A collection of unusual Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec lithographs includes several proofs that precede his finished compositions, most notably Moulin Rouge, La Goulue (D. 339; ADR. 1; W. P1) showing

Multiple prints up for auction this May were featured in Sotheby's Inaugural Designer Showhouse in March, an innovative approach to highlighting the treasure trove of fine art offered this season at Sotheby's. Six talented interior designers were given exclusive access to our inventory to select a group of objects from which they devised distinctive interior spaces. Daun Curry of Modern Declaration chose Andy Warhol's Sitting Bull (F. & S. II.376) as the focal point of her room (est. $40/60,000, below left).
