Christopher C. Collier has been recently appointed to INROADS, Inc.`s National Board of Directors. INROADS is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to developing and placing talented underserved youth in business and industry, and preparing them for corporate and community leadership. Collier, a senior leader in human resources for Southern Company, will apply his expertise in talent acquisition and diversity and inclusion (D&I) to help further INROADS` mission.

"INROADS has been making a big difference in the lives of underserved youth for many years," said Collier. "I am honored to serve on the national board of directors, especially in light of the legacy of prior board service established by my colleagues at Southern Company. I am eager to get to work in support of the organization in its future and strategic endeavors."

"We welcome Chris to our National Board and are truly excited to have him as a partner with INROADS," said Forest T. Harper, Jr., INROADS President and CEO. "At INROADS, we grow young students to become 21st century leaders through our programs. We develop top, diverse talent for the workforce, and we believe that Chris` expertise will play a unique role in helping our students reach their goals for the future."

Collier serves as the head of Talent Acquisition and director of Diversity and Inclusion at Southern Company. In this role, he creates long-term D&I strategies and is responsible for all aspects of the recruiting and selection processes across the Southern Company system of 32,000 employees. This includes the fulfillment of all skill categories with an emphasis on diversity, strategic sourcing and critical partnerships with colleges and universities, the military and other key organizations. Prior to joining Southern Company in 2007, Collier was a senior recruiting leader in both the transportation and consumer products industries.

He has served in many capacities in the community over the years, including past board member of the Atlanta chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM). He currently sits on the Chastain Park Conservancy Board in Atlanta and the Dean`s Advisory Council for Auburn University`s College of Liberal Arts. He gives back through consulting and mentorship to up-and-coming human resources industry professionals and is actively involved with various community-based organizations. Collier continues his professional efforts through memberships in SHRM and the Georgia State University HR Executive Roundtable.

A graduate of Auburn University, he earned a bachelor`s degree in mass communications and also served in the U.S. Army for almost 10 years. Collier will officially take on his two-year board term on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at the annual INROADS National Board Retreat in Florida, where he will work with other fellow board members to create innovative strategies for INROADS to continually support and develop talented youth for Corporate America.
