SAN FRANCISCO - September 16, 2013 - Splunk Inc. (NASDAQ: SPLK), the leading software platform for real-time operational intelligence, today announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire BugSense Inc., a leading analytics solution for machine data generated by mobile devices. The addition of BugSense will enhance the ability of Splunk customers to analyze machine data directly from mobile devices and correlate it with other machine-generated data to gain operational intelligence.

'BugSense has a strong mobile development team and is an exciting addition to our product portfolio. Our goal is to make it easier for customers to gain insights from machine data generated by mobile devices, along with other machine-generated data, across Splunk's core use cases in IT operations, security, application management and business analytics.'

Founded in 2011, BugSense provides developers and users rich analytics across a wide variety of use cases including mobile app performance, app quality, troubleshooting and usage based on data from mobile devices. BugSense supports all major mobile platforms, including Android, iOS and Windows Phone, via its mobile software development kits (SDKs). Today, BugSense enables users to analyze data from hundreds of millions of mobile devices through a highly scalable cloud platform.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The transaction, which will be funded with cash from Splunk's balance sheet, is subject to customary closing conditions and expected to close during Splunk's fiscal third quarter 2014.
