Club makes new move with Portuguese speaking countries

Sporting Clube de Portugal is now part of the CPLP (Community of Portuguese Language Countries) Business Centre. The move comes as part of the club's continued efforts in Portuguese speaking countries, with Sporting's investment in development and cooperation through sport building bridges across communities.

Sporting has already opened the doors of new Academies in Angola and Equatorial Guinea, with plans to open facilities in Cape Verde already set out. The club also has a protocol agreement with the government of São Tomé and Príncipe and takes part in a wealth of activities in Mozambique, Timor and Guinea Bissau.

'For the CPLP Business Federation, we are really proud and happy to have a new partner in the form of such a historic institution as Sporting Clube de Portugal. The club's eclecticism and presence throughout the CPLP is sure to see the Sporting brand a powerful ally in transforming our community into something that looks to the future,' said Salimo Abdula, president of the CPLP Business Federation.

'In name of the CPLP Exporters Union and the Confederation, I congratulate Sporting Clube de Portugal for coming into this business platform, designed to get the best out of the CPLP. We all know Sporting's history, its main symbols, its mythical athletes and its recognised youth training. Together, we will be stronger', added Mário Costa, lider of the CPLP Exporters Union.
