Sprint To Provide Wireless Service in New York City Underground Subway Stations
Riders on New York City subways want to stay connected.

Sprint will participate in the multi-year project to provide cell phone and data connectivity to customers in New York's underground subway stations.

Transit Wireless and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced that 30 new subway stations in mid-town Manhattan, including Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Lincoln Center and Columbus Circle, are now online.

Sprint customers are expected to be able to use the network later this year.

Michael Ratti, Sprint Regional Director for the Northeast, Public Sector

"In the city that never sleeps, New Yorkers love to use their mobile devices 24/7 to stay connected to friends, loved ones and business associates. Sprint is thrilled to include the country's largest subway system in our build plans for a new wireless network - delivering the robust benefits of 3G and 4G LTE to New York City's commuters, tourists, police officers, fire fighters, and emergency medical personnel. Sprint has a strong history supporting public safety, and we're proud to be here today to announce our plans to provide reliable and seamless wireless communications to this effort.
