SRS 5.1 Empowers Content Creators to Enhance Multimedia with Surround
Sound Encoding For Playback Across TVs, PCs and Mobile Devices
SRS
Labs (NASDAQ:SRSL), the industry leader in surround sound, audio
enhancement, and voice post-processing technologies, announced today
that its SRS 5.1? surround sound audio encoding technology is now
available as part of the Service Pack 2 upgrade to Microsoft's
Expression Encoder 4 Pro video production tool for streaming content.
"Streaming has quickly become one of the most popular and convenient
methods for transmitting content to the masses and we're very excited
that our SRS 5.1 surround sound encoding solution is now available to
even more streaming content creators via the Microsoft Expression
Encoder toolset," said Allen
H. Gharapetian, Senior Vice President of Marketing for SRS Labs.
"It used to be that streaming content would mean long buffering times,
pixilated pictures and low audio bit-rates. However, with today's
advanced technologies and broadband infrastructure, streaming has
evolved into instantaneous access to content with stunning HD picture
and, when paired with SRS 5.1, brilliantly immersive surround sound too."
SRS 5.1 is designed to provide content creators with the tools to create
and deliver true, high-quality streamed surround sound encoded content
across TVs, PCs, media tablets and mobile devices. Users who upgrade to
Microsoft Expression 4 Service Pack 2 will automatically get access to
SRS' powerful surround sound audio encoding engine, making it extremely
easy for content creators and developers to equip their content with
immersive SRS 5.1 surround sound. Because millions of TVs, A/V
receivers, PCs and mobile phones today feature one or more SRS audio
solutions, such as Circle Surround®, TheaterSound?, StudioSound HD?, and
TruSurround®, every one of these CE devices are natively equipped with
the capability to decode SRS 5.1 surround encoded content, resulting in
a "surround everywhere" entertainment experience.
Some of the other major benefits associated with SRS encoding and
decoding solutions include:
-
Multichannel and front-rendered surround sound
-
Smooth steering and full bandwidth for a seamless and immersive
surround environment
-
Backwards compatibility with legacy matrix decoders and stereo
-
Surround streaming over bit rates as low as 96kbps
"We are excited about the addition of SRS 5.1 to Expression Encoder 4
SP2. It enables our customers to create the highest quality surround
sound streams from multi-channel recordings," said Eric Zocher, General
Manager, Microsoft Expression.
