24th August 2015

Worcester home buyers looking for some inspiration this August Bank Holiday weekend should visit St. Modwen Homes' Gregorys Bank development where the housebuilder is joining forces with The Mortgage Bureau to answer questions about the government's Help to Buy scheme.

The much-celebrated government scheme, designed to assist home buyers with a move both onto, and up, the property ladder, has already assisted in 50% of sales at Gregorys Bank in 2015 alone.

Free for everyone to attend, the Help to Buy weekend will take place between 10am and 5pm on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August at the development located on St. Georges Lane, just two miles from Worcester city centre.

Bev Hall, sales and marketing director at St. Modwen Homes, said: "Help to Buy has helped countless buyers across the country purchase their new home and has undoubtedly played a big role in getting the housing market moving again. In the past six months alone, half the homes sold at Gregorys Bank have been through Help to Buy and we know there is interest out there from others too.

"People often have many questions about the facts and requirements of Help to Buy which is why we're holding this dedicated event together with our local independent mortgage advisers. All are welcome to drop by, view the development and show homes and take the opportunity to ask any questions they have about Help to Buy, putting it into the context of specific properties available here at Gregorys Bank."

Help to Buy has proven hugely successful since it was launched in 2013, assisting thousands of people in purchasing a new home. Under the equity loan scheme, people pay just 80% of the listed price of a property, made up of a 5% deposit and a 75% mortgage. The government will provide an equity loan of up to 20% to cover the remaining cost which is interest free for the first five years.

Thanks to increasing confidence amongst home buyers in the local area and subsequent strong sales at Gregorys Bank, St. Modwen Homes has now released a new collection of two bedroom properties. Named the Alban, the two bedroom terraces are designed very much with first time buyers and young families in mind. Each of the properties has two double bedrooms - one of which is a master bedroom with a built-in wardrobe - as well as an additional downstairs toilet, separate kitchen and large open plan living/dining room with French doors leading out to the rear garden. Prices for the two beds start from £172,995 and include a space for parking.

Bev said: "Under Help to Buy, purchasers only need a deposit of five per cent which could be as low as £8,650 to own their very own, two bed Alban home at Gregorys Bank. This is great news for first time buyers and young families looking to get onto the property ladder. What's more, all our homes have been built in a beautiful scenic setting next to the Birmingham and Worcester canal, giving home owners a relaxing place to call home close to the many amenities the city centre has to offer."

Perfectly situated for those commuting to work in Birmingham city centre or further afield, Gregorys Bank has great transport links to the M5 and a direct train from Worcester to Birmingham which only takes 40 minutes.
