St. Modwen, the UK's leading regeneration specialist, will host a two-day consultation event to discuss and present plans for the redevelopment of Kirkby Town Centre to the public.

The public exhibition will see members of the project team on hand to provide more details about the scheme and answer questions local people may have. There will also be opportunity for locals to offer feedback before the plans are developed further and a planning application is submitted to Knowsley Council for consideration.

Following St. Modwen's £35.8m acquisition in November 2015 the team has been working closely with the local authority to develop plans for the Town Centre. An outline scheme has been designed which will comprise of a supermarket and in the region of 100,000 sq ft of new retail floorspace. The outline scheme has already seen significant interest from a number of national retailers and St. Modwen is in advanced talks with a major food retailer to anchor the new scheme.

St. Modwen's Projects Director, Steven Knowles, said: 'The public exhibition and consultation process is a really important part of the planning process. The exhibition will provide a great opportunity for those wishing to find out more about the development plans for Kirkby Town Centre to speak directly to the project team and have their say, with all feedback being considered before the proposals are finalised and submitted to Knowsley Council.

'Following St. Modwen's acquisition of Kirkby Town Centre we have made it our priority to drive forward immediate improvements and our proposal alongside Knowsley Council now paves the way for wider, more significant change.'

'Following the consultation we are on track to submit a formal planning application later this year.'

Knowsley Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, Cllr Mike Murphy, said: 'This consultation represents another significant step forward in delivering much-anticipated new retail and leisure facilities in Kirkby Town Centre.

'I would strongly encourage Kirkby residents to take this opportunity to come along and speak to St. Modwen about these plans, give their feedback and ask any questions they may have. The Council and our partners have already delivered major improvements to the Town Centre in recent years and I look forward to St. Modwen finalising their retail and leisure plans following this consultation with the public, as the regeneration continues at pace.'

The public exhibition will take place on Friday 21 October, 10am to 3pm and Saturday 22 October, 9.30am to 1pm at 17 St Chad's Parade, Kirkby Town Centre.
