Standard Life Aberdeen plc is delighted to recommit to the HM Treasury Women in Finance Charter, building on the strong foundations we have already put in place.

We have had targets for increased representation of women in senior leadership since 2016, when Standard Life plc and Aberdeen Asset Management plc were among the first signatories to the newly launched Charter. Last year we published our gender action plan to help us deliver our targets and achieve greater gender balance at all levels in our organisation. Responsibility for this action plan is owned by our CEOs.

We are firmly committed to building on the work that we have already begun and accelerating progress on gender diversity in our new organisation. We believe a balanced workforce at all levels will deliver the best outcomes for our clients, our customers and our people.

Today we are publishing our new targets for Standard Life Aberdeen:

Level Target % by June 2020 Actual % 31 December 20173 Actual Number 31 December 2017
Board 33 25 4 of 16
Executive 1 33 27 49 of 183
Entire global workforce 50 2 47 4,569 of 9,651
Entire UK workforce 50 2 47 3,634 of 7,803

Achieving a better gender balance at all levels will also improve our gender pay and bonus gaps, which we know are primarily influenced by the structure of our workforce. You can find our gender pay gap report here.

Our report shows more progress needs to be made; achieving a more balanced workforce and reducing our pay gap will take enduring focus. Our Women in Finance targets will help drive this forward and we will continue to report regularly and transparently.

Notes

1 People employed in roles across the two leadership levels below CEO, excluding admin employees.

2 Target has a tolerance of 3%

3 Data is prepared in accordance with our reporting methodology and the Key Performance Indicators are within KPMG's limited assurance scope.
