Stantec has been selected by Hondo Independent School District (ISD) to provide design services for the district's May 2015 bond. The work, which encompasses the bond in total, includes $33.8 million in new construction and renovation throughout the district, and is intended to address educational mandates, capacity, and programs.

Projects are planned for all of the district's facilities and include: a new career and technology education (CTE) center with classrooms, labs and trade shops; new high school band hall; new community fine arts center with seating for 600; new student athletic center and field house renovation; science lab renovations; a middle school classroom and science lab addition and library expansion; new maintenance and transportation facilities; and various renovations and upgrades across the district.

"This project is not only exciting because of the impact it will make across the district, but also because it offers Stantec the opportunity to work with Hondo ISD for the first time," said Daniel Perez, principal at Stantec. "Because these projects will touch all of Hondo ISD's campuses, literally every student, teacher, and staff member today and in future years will reap the benefits of this work. Our team is so excited to be a part of these important projects for our community's educational design expertise combined with our recent experience with many similar projects makes Stantec a great fit for the work, and we're eager to get started."

Stantec will complete the projects over the next three years, with programming slated to begin this summer. The bond work is based on recommendations from a long-range facility planning efforts conducted by the district in 2014.
