Statoil is Scandinavia's No. 1 oil group. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
- refining and distribution of oil products (84.3%): purchasing and sales of crude oil, production of methanol and distribution of refined products. At the end of 2011, the group operated a network of 2,305 service stations (Statoil name) located in Scandinavia, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Russia;
- transformation, transport and sale of natural gas (10.6%);
- exploration and production of petrol and natural gas (4.8%): operates 75 oil fields (of which 44 located in Norway);
- other (0.3%).
Net sales break down geographically as follows: Norway (77.2%), the United States (9.8%) and other (13%).
