Burnpur, 7th March : Chairman, SAIL, Mr. C.S. Verma made an extensive on-site review of the performance of the recently operationalised integrated stream of the Modernisation & Expansion facilities, in ISP Burnpur, today.

Mr Verma visited the Bar Mill, Continuous Casting Shop, Universal Section Mill and the Blast Furnace 'Kalyani' (the largest operating blast furnace in the country). Noting the progress of work since his last visit in December'14, he exhorted the senior officials to work on a war footing for ramping up production to derive maximum benefits of the new facilities. He also had interactions with representatives of trade union as well as officers' association.

At the Bar Mill, Mr. Verma witnessed the Hot Trial Run of the mill. This Mill has a capacity to produce 0.7million tonnes per annum of high quality bars including seismic grade TMT rebars of diameter 8 to 40mm in straight lengths.

Congratulating the ISP collective, Mr Verma said that since the products from this mill would meet the demand of high quality TMT bars for the infrastructure and construction sector, early stabilization of the mill will facilitate IISCO Steel Plant to augment its market share of these products.

Being the single largest investment in West Bengal, it is poised to change the face of industrial economy of the state.
