COMMUNITY CELEBRATES OFFICIAL OPENING OF NEW $51 MILLION STOCKLAND HARRISDALE SHOPPING CENTRE

Stockland and the Piara Waters community came together today to celebrate the grand opening of the new $51 million Stockland Harrisdale Shopping Centre. The new 12,200 square metre centre, located in one of the fastest growing areas of Perth, 20 kilometres south-east of CBD, offers a new era of convenient, local shopping with a focus on fresh food, dining and retail services.

John Schroder, Group Executive and CEO of Commercial Property at Stockland, today joined The Hon. Tony Simpson MLA, Member for Darling Range and Minister for Local Government and Mayor of Armadale, Councillor Henry Zelones, OAM, JP to officially open the new centre and welcome the first shoppers.

John Schroder said: "We're pleased to deliver an unprecedented retail experience for this booming area of Perth that will meet the needs of residents and visitors now and well into the future. Today not only marks the opening of Stockland Harrisdale but also a new town centre, that will continue to grow and is destined to become the number one shopping centre in the area."

Hundreds of local residents joined the celebrations and enjoyed their first experience of their new neighbourhood shopping centre, which includes a new ALDI supermarket, only the 7th such supermarket to open in the west. The new centre is anchored by the only full-line Woolworths supermarket in the primary trade area with customers set to enjoy the new store-within-a-store concept.

The new centre also offers 30 new specialty stores, including Bakers Delight, Nextra Newsagency, Butchers Corner, Five Season Fresh, Jamaica Blue, Panda Oriental Grocer, Mister Minit, Discount Drug Store, the Harrisdale Family Medical Centre and many more. Customers will also enjoy ample parking with 500 car parking spaces surrounding the centre.

John Schroder continues: "We've listened to the community from the inception of our planning process to ensure the new Stockland Harrisdale would be much more than a place to shop; it's a place for friends and family to meet, eat, socialise and enjoy."

The $51 million Stockland Harrisdale shopping centre is located within the award- winning Stockland Newhaven residential community. The latest HIA Population and Residential Building Hotspots Report reveals the south-east Perth area of Forrestdale-Harrisdale-Piara Waters as WA's hottest hotspot, with population growth of 20 per cent and registered $215.7 million worth of new home building approvals during the year1.

The Harrisdale project broke ground in June 2015, creating hundreds of jobs during construction. The centre continues to back local employment with more than 300 retail, hospitality and customer service jobs to be supported by the new shopping centre.

The Hon. Tony Simpson MLA, Member for Darling Range said: "It is a very exciting time for Harrisdale and the surrounding areas. In January 2009 there were 131 people living in Harrisdale and just over 6 and a half years later there are now over 3,500 residents. This area has experienced significant growth and the shopping centre brings both amenity and employment opportunities to local area residents."

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said, residents in the fast growing western suburbs of Harrisdale, Forrestdale and Piara Waters had eagerly awaited the opening of the Stockland Harrisdale Shopping Centre development.

"Stockland Harrisdale will feature not only an impressive town centre and heart for the community, but much needed and convenient local shopping. It has also generated significant employment opportunities throughout the construction stage and now for the future in retail and hospitality. We look forward to seeing this centre thrive."

As another mark of the company's commitment to the future of the community, Stockland Harrisdale has already achieved a 4 Star Green Star Retail 'Design' by the Green Building Council of Australia and is targeting 4 Star Green Star Retail 'As Built' environmental rating. The centre has been designed for improved indoor environment quality using innovative energy and water saving systems and with thoughtful inclusions such an Electric Vehicle ChargePoint and bike racks for nearby residents to cycle to the centre.
