First European company to receive certification for IPS

Helsinki, Finland -7 March 2013 - The cyber security expert Stonesoft today announced its Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) has obtained the highest level security certification CSPN (Certification de Sécurité de Premier Niveau) delivered by the French security agency ANSSI (French Network and Information Security Agency). Stonesoft already obtained the certification for its firewall solution in December 2011.

More and more organizations with high security demands rely on the certification when making investment decisions. The CSPN procedure is based on fully documented guidelines and criteria defined by ANSSI. The focus of the certification is to conduct testing to meet the Security Targets set by ANSSI. The evaluations are run by neutral testing centers accredited by ANSSI.

The Stonesoft IPS provides organizations with best-of-breed security against external and internal threats. The solution proactively detects, analyzes and stops harmful traffic, ensures resilient connectivity and reduces the costs related to threat management and compliance. The product differentiates through full stack data traffic normalization process, protocol and statistical analysis, which make it extremely effective against advanced and persistent cyber attacks utilizing evasion techniques.

"The certification is based on a realistic security target that is significant to our users. The target has been designed around the default settings of the equipment, which means that we meet the basic ANSSI performance requirement without any special engineering and at no additional cost", explained Léonard Dahan, Country Manager for Stonesoft France & Benelux.

"Obtaining this French government certification is consistent with our growth strategy and future vision. Cyber security has become a preoccupying issue and large-scale industry recognition is a business imperative. As the only European vendor certified by the ANSSI, we offer a viable alternative to locally adopted solutions", stated Antti Kuvaja, Director, Product Management at Stonesoft.

Stonesoft received the CSPN certification for the IPS solution on February 19th 2013 under the reference ANSSI-CSPN-2013/01.
