Stratasys Ltd. (Nasdaq:SSYS), the 3D printing and additive manufacturing solutions company, today further expanded its presence in healthcare by unveiling several new industry collaborations and customer demonstrations – further transforming the use of 3D printing for medical models, driving enhanced education, training, and learning. Presenting at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), Stratasys Co-founder Scott Crump is addressing this first meeting of the society’s new 3D printing Special Interest Group (SIG). Additionally, the company is teaming up with Minneapolis-based Vital Images, Inc. to speed medical-based deployments of 3D printing technology.

This first RSNA-sponsored SIG serves as an important resource for 3D printing and radiology. Recognizing the initiative as an inflection point for hospital-based 3D printing, Stratasys is supporting this launch with the participation of industry thought leader Scott Crump – inventor of revolutionary Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printing. Invited by SIG’s Chairman Frank J. Rybicki, MD, PhD, Crump will offer his unique perspective on 3D printing in the hospital environment based on three decades of expertise that’s helped to shape this industry. Designed to foster discussion, cooperation and education, the opening session convenes at RSNA 2016.

The companies are jointly exhibiting 3D printing and automated segmentation of medical images at RSNA – supported by Vitrea Advanced Visualization software which delivers multi-modality automated segmentation to generate models from DICOM 3D assets.
