Suncorp supports Australia's Anzac Centenary legacy

Suncorp, one of Australia's largest financial services companies, has provided a significant contribution to Australia's Anzac Centenary Public Fund.

The Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Centenary of ANZAC, Dan Tehan announced Queensland's Anzac Square memorial would receive a major overhaul thanks to a $5 million contribution from one of Australia's largest companies, Suncorp.

"The funding is provided through the Anzac Centenary Public Fund which was established to provide Australian communities with opportunities to participate in Anzac Centenary activities," Mr Tehan said.

"With the support of contributors, such as Suncorp, iconic state and territory Anzac Centenary projects are being completed, enabling more people to participate in commemorative activities, and ensuring the legacy of our ANZACs lives on."

Anzac Square is Queensland's state memorial to those Queenslanders who have served their country in conflict and in peace. The Memorial will be restored and enhanced, including its rooms and galleries which are fundamental issues for the conservation of this significant public memorial.

"With more than 14,500 employees and relationships with over nine million customers, Suncorp is dedicated to being there for our customers and communities when they need it most," Suncorp Group CEO Michael Cameron said.

"Suncorp's values are closely aligned to the Anzac spirit of mateship, ingenuity and community service. I am delighted to support the Australian Government's Anzac Centenary national program."

Suncorp's substantial contribution will also help fund other legacy projects in Queensland that will ensure future generations are aware of the significant impact the First World War had on Australia.

The Anzac Centenary 2014 to 2018 is the most significant period of commemoration in Australia's history. It is a time to acknowledge the service and sacrifice of all those who have defended our freedoms over the past 100 years, and those who continue to represent us in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
