• Sydney Airport continues to invest in ground transport services and facilities
• Taxi, bus and limousine fee adjustments from 1 July reflect upgrades and delivery of new capacity
• Ground transport charge for taxis to be adjusted by 10 cents to $4.10

Each year, more than 38.5 million passengers travel through Sydney Airport, and taxis, buses and limousines are a vital part of the airport's ground transport system and passenger experience.

After another year of strong traffic growth, Sydney Airport continues to invest in, and improve, services and facilities for the thousands of taxi, bus and limousine drivers and operators at the airport's T1 and T2/T3 terminal precincts.

Recent improvements include:

  • Installation of a new awning at the T1 taxi holding bay;
  • Further expanded capacity of the T1 taxi holding bay;
  • Expansion of the pre-booked taxi holding bay at T1; and
  • Refreshed taxi, bus and limousine signage at the T1 and T2 forecourts.

To reflect the growth in traffic and improvements in facilities, the ground transport access fee for taxis will be adjusted by 10 cents to $4.10 from 1 July.

Access fees are reinvested in new capacity and improvements for drivers and passengers, as well as day-to-day kerbside and traffic management.

Bus and limousine fees will also be adjusted to reflect continued improvements to the airport's ground transport system.

Sydney Airport has consulted with relevant stakeholders to ensure all drivers and operators are aware of the adjustments to take effect on 1 July.

Since 2002, Sydney Airport has invested around $2.4 billion in airport improvements, and plans to invest a further $1.2 billion over the next five years.

In the past year, Sydney Airport has opened Stage 1 of upgrades to the road network at T1 which have improved traffic flow in and around the International precinct.

The airport has also recently commenced work on the T2/T3 Ground Access Solutions and Hotel Major Development Plan (MDP).

Major projects forming part of the MDP include the development of a new one-way road system, a new Ground Transport Interchange and an expanded taxi holding bay.

When complete, the improvements will significantly reduce traffic congestion and provide greater convenience for passengers, drivers and operators of taxis, buses and limousines.
