Symrise Opens Expanded Production Plant for Cosmetic Ingredients

• Significant increase of production capacities for cosmetic ingredients in Holzminden
• Increased flexibility and backward integration of key raw materials
• Strengthened competitiveness as a provider of product solutions for cosmetics

Symrise AG opened a plant today for the production of cosmetic ingredients, significantly increasing its capacities and improving its position in the market. The company has invested € 15 million to build the plant and plans further facilities in Germany and the U.S. The plant works highly efficiently, saves energy and thus strengthens Symrise's sustainability approach.

The € 15 million investment significantly increases the production capacities in Germany and lays the foundation for further projects in Germany and the U.S. The Cosmetic Ingredients division uses the facilities to produce various cosmetic ingredients. Its production flexibility has thus been considerably increased. The plant also allows additional production processes to be run within its facilities. This strengthens the backward integration of key raw materials and thus the availability of these raw materials. The plant makes use of one other principle of sustainability. By recirculating production steam, it uses significantly less energy. In addition, output and product quality have been improved thanks to cutting-edge and efficient production processes.

By processing various cosmetic ingredients in the new plant, Symrise strengthens its position as a solution provider for cosmetics. With its active ingredients for cosmetics, the company offers a complete toolbox of compatible products.

"Opening a production plant for cosmetic ingredients strengthens our leading role in the development and production of innovative ingredients for producers of cosmetics and care products," explains Dr. Gabriele Vielhaber, Senior Vice President & Global Head Actives, Botanicals and Product Protection Cosmetic Ingredients Division at Symrise. "We have established and built our expertise in cosmetic ingredients over many decades. With our sound knowledge of formulations, consumers and the market as well as our application expertise, we are supporting our customers in developing personal care products. Also, our innovative strength has helped us set standards in cosmetic ingredients. We will continue to develop that expertise."
