• Creative ideas for luxury fragrances honored with the
Prix Lalique
• Award from the Centre du Luxe et de la Création
• Most important luxury-oriented think and do tank in
France
On the evening of March 19, 2012, the Centre du Luxe et de
la Création invited guests to the renowned Parisian Grand
Hotel Intercontinental. There they honored twelve talented
individuals who have enriched the world of luxury and
lifestyle with their creations. The Centre du Luxe et de la
Création awarded the « Prix Lalique » to Symrise perfumer
Emilie Coppermann.
For 19 years, Emilie Coppermann has been creating perfumes
for the luxury class, including such well-known fragrances
as Paco Rabanne Black XS L'Excès pour elle and Black XS
pour elle, Carolina Herrera 212 VIP Men and CH Men,
Givenchy Play for Her and Play Intense, Burberry Brit
Sheer, Eau de Lalique. She has now been presented with the
Prix Lalique award in recognition of her work.
Emilie Coppermann was initially drawn to the idea of
creating fascinating fragrances when she was 13 years old.
She systematically pursued her dream and wound up studying
chemistry. Her talent was recognized by Jean-Louis Sieuzac
& Dominique Ropion, perfumers at Symrise (ex-Florasynth),
who took her under his wing. They taught her the
fundamentals of perfumery. Master Symrise perfumer Maurice
Roucel was another of her mentors. He too received an award
from the Centre du Luxe et de la Création in 2008, the
Talent de la Seduction.
Over the course of time, Emilie Coppermann developed her
own unique style. She is especially passionate about woody
scents in all their diversity. They form the base fragrance
in many of her creations. Alternately strong, radiant,
masculine and feminine, they come together to create
impressive compositions. She likes to round out her
fragrances with fresh notes from galbanum, mandarin,
angelica and subtly sensual elements such as musk
seeds.
The perfumer gathers inspiration from her interactions with
artists of other genres. These encourage her to add new
aspects to her work and take it to new heights. She also
likes to compare her creations to abstract art. Away from
work, she focuses her energies on her four children and
photography.
Jacques Carles, President of the Centre du Luxe et de la
Création, summarized the panel's decision: "Emilie
Coppermann is an inspiration with her passion for luxury
fragrance creations. They artfully lead us into a world of
woods and spicy fragrances. She skillfully combines unusual
materials to create harmonious compositions that leave us
craving for more."
"We are very pleased for Emilie Coppermann and congratulate
her on this award. She has the courage to try new ideas and
the ability to create seductive fragrances with her unique
creative talents. She is an inspiration to her colleagues
and her work is a key factor in Symrise's success. We
excitedly await her next fantastic creations that always
manage to correspond with the latest trends," lauded Dr.
Heinz-Jürgen Bertram, CEO of Symrise AG. As the event's
guest of honor, he congratulated the award winner
personally.
Emilie Coppermann was visibly moved by the evening's
events: "It is a great honor for me to accept this award
today for my fragrance creations. As a perfumer, I am
constantly seeking out new inspiration. When designing a
fragrance, my goal is to both surprise and fulfill secret
desires."
The Centre du Luxe et de la Création established the
Talents du Luxe et de la Création to honor creative
individuals each year who excel in the luxury goods
industry. The panel selects twelve winners in various
categories such as elegance, innovation and originality
from a pool of 40 candidates selected by the Collège des
Découvreurs de Talents. The winners are selected due to
their extraordinary expertise and skills as well as the
impressive quality of their work.
