TAIPEI--Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSM) said Friday that January revenue posted strong growth, with analysts attributing the sales growth to soaring demand for high-performance chips for smartphones and tablet computers.
Consolidated revenue in January jumped 37% to 47.44 billion New Taiwan dollars (US$1.60 billion) from NT$34.61 billion a year earlier, TSMC, the world's largest contract chip maker by revenue, said in a statement.
The company didn't break down the revenue figures nor did it provide an explanation for the sales growth.
