TSMC today held its first Power Conservation and Energy Management Course, holding free classes to share the company's many years of experience in saving electricity with others in the manufacturing industry. The course is aimed at providing practical power conservation know-how to industry so that TSMC can make the best use of its accumulated knowledge to benefit society and carry out its corporate social responsibility.

TSMC Spokesperson and Senior Vice President Ms. Lora Ho said that TSMC has always committed to pursuing environment sustainability and continues to build a world-class green enterprise, so the company is willing to share many years of accumulated green knowledge and experience to fulfill part of our duty as a corporate citizen to care for our environment.

After holding the Industrial Power Conservation Course in 2012, TSMC has extended this model to free power conservation and energy management classes this year. TSMC will hold power conservation and energy management classes in Hsinchu (4/12, 6/6), Taichung (4/19) and Tainan (4/26), respectively, for executives and technical personnel from companies across a variety of industries. In addition, TSMC will hold free waste recycling classes in Hsinchu (5/10/, 6/13), Taichung (5/17) and Tainan (5/24). Approximately 391 people have registered for the two courses.

TSMC has several hundred engineers working on conserving power. In 2016, TSMC's Taiwan fabs conserved 91 million kilowatt hours of electricity, and saved NT$230 million in utility costs for the company. At the same time, the reduction in power consumption also eliminates approximately 48,000 tons of carbon emissions.
