São Paulo, November 14, 2013 - TAM Cargo, the cargo unit of LATAM Airlines Group in Brazil, announces the start of operations at its new cargo terminal. With 13,000 square meters, of which 5,000 square meters are built area, it is the company's largest cargo terminal in Brazil.

Manaus,capital of Amazonas state,  is one of the country's most important production centers for a wide array of industries and is of fundamental importance to the operations of TAM Cargo. According to the Manaus Duty Free Zone Superintendence (Suframa), in August 2013 the Manaus Industrial Complex (PIM) recorded revenue of R$ 51.34 billion, which represents an increase of 10.04% from last year in the same eight-month period (R$ 46.66 billion).

According to Pablo Navarrete, Executive Director at TAM Cargo, the new domestic terminal is part of LATAM Airlines Group's  US$ 20 million investment in the infrastructure of its terminals throughout Brazil; it will streamline cargo transported on passenger and freighter aircraft . "This month marks a historic achievement for us. This investment demonstrates our commitment to improving our infrastructure in Brazil and to delivering excellent service to our clients," he said.

The structure has a 100% vertically oriented warehouse, 2,600 stocking positions, an exclusive system for storing and identifying freight, a cold room for perishables and ample parking with spaces for 70 small, medium and large vehicles. TAM Cargo clients will also have at their disposal an area for receiving large lots (full pallets) and 20 customer service stations comprised of 14 docks and six positions distributed on two ramps.

TAM Cargo is responsible for handling freight services, express shipping and special cargo. It serves its customers with direct flights to 42 airports in Brazil, offers pick-up services in more than 400 cities and provides door-to-door delivery services to over 4,000 locations in Brazil using its ample ground transportation structure. The combined cargo network of LAN Airlines and TAM Airlines, both members of LATAM Airlines Group, serves 169 destinations in 27 countries around the world.
