Launched in 2015 in collaboration with M/s ExxonMobil, Gurukshetra Skill Contest is a platform for the mechanics from the after-market Garages around the country working on Tata Motors vehicles to showcase their skills and talent besides updating themselves with dynamic market requirements and upgrades in various models of vehicles. Comprising of 3 levels, Gurukshetra received a participation of over 5000 mechanics across the country. Over 141 Gurus (mechanics) were shortlisted for the second round and 24 amongst them made it to the finals held at the Tata Motors Training Centre in Pimpri, Pune. Top 3 winners were recognized and rewarded for their performance.

Addressing the winners of the contest, Mr. R.Ramakrishnan, Senior Vice-President, Customer care, CVBU, Tata Motors Limited said, 'India's automobile industry is growing steadily, and technology and features are being upgraded at a rapid pace. There is a need for skilled people to service and maintain these vehicles. We take great pride in providing service to our customers even in the remotest parts of the country with the help of 50,000 plus registered TATA GURUS (Local Mechanics) associated with us over in addition to our authorized workshops. At Tata Motors, we consistently, create opportunities for our mechanics to showcase their skills, evolve and stay ahead of the industry by providing them with necessary trainings. Gurukshetra, our National Level Skill Competition has been instrumental in providing the right of kind of training to our mechanics thereby allowing them to achieve the highest levels of service technologies'.

The top 3 winners received their award from Mr. R. Ramakrishnan, Senior Vice-President, Customer care (Domestic and IB) CVBU, Tata Motors Limited and Mr. Avinash Gupta, Head, Spare Parts & Aggregates, CVBU, Tata Motors Limited. First runner up Shyam Kumar from Bareilly was given a cash prize of INR 75,000 and second runner up Rakesh Janardhan Mali from Thane bagged a cash prize of INR. 50,000.

It was a great experience where I could test my skills against the best competitors in India. The training that we received during this period has really helped me develop my skills further.
